A friend is a heavy drinker, but diagnosed with HepA. Why not Alcohol Hep? What's the difference? |
A friend lives in Spain and was recently diagnosed with Hepatitis A - he has an enlarged Liver and Spleen. After reading about Alcoholic Hepatitis, I am curious to know why this was not diagnosed, as I have been concerned about his drinking for a long time now and am worried the only reason that Hep A has been diagnosed over Alcoholic Hepatitis is because he hasn't disclosed accurate information regarding his level of alcohol consumption... Or is it that blood tests can say categorically that Hep A is the cause? Hepatitis A is an infectious, contagious disease spread through contaminated sources of food and water or intimate contact. |
