Is it true that some alcoholic's nose gets bigger as they age?

I have seen people that drink heavily, and I've noticed they have a bigger, porous, red nose. Why is this? and,Is it related to the alcohol consumption?

I thought so, too, but current opinion is that rhinophyma is associated with a skin condition known as acne rosacea.

I have been around the bar scene for quite sometime having managed one for eight years, and bar tended in a number of others for years, I have found in heavy drinkers that the nose often turns reddish blue, it may have to do with the arteries hardening,it sure is a tell tale sign of alcohol abuse. Report It

The redness is from the alcohol.

The growth is just from aging. The ears and nose never stop growing until you die.

Redness is related to the alcohol, but size is related to age...there are two parts of the human body that continue to grow...the ears and the nose.

Yes. Look at Teddy Kennedy.
