Withdrawal seizures?

My husband who has abused pills and alcohol and a slew of other drugs is having what can only be described as seizures when he's sleeping. He is trying sobriety now, could these be an effect of withdrawal?

Yes, most definately. He should go to detox as pills in particular will take at least 30 days to get out of his system. Oh get him the vitamin GLA made from Evening Primrose. Take it 3 times a day with meals until they subside.

He should go to a treatment center he could be going through DT's and that can be very dangerous!!!!

It's a withdrawl from the pills, downers obviously. You're not supposed to stop taking them cold turkey if you've been taking them for any significant period of time as it causes seizures, night terrors, and other stuff. The withdrawl from alcohol will give him DT's-deliruim tremors-if he's stopping cold turkey as well. It's not really safe to stop either on your own-both withdrawls can be fatal depending on how much he'd been doing, how long, etc. The ones for alcohol will start fairly quickly, the one from the pills may appear later on and last for a while when you'd think he'd be over it as they take longer to get out of your system. I imagine it can't be too long he's been sober as he's still experiencing them...you might want to talk to a doctor about him being partially medicated and tapering off or on a different medication to prevent the seizures and stuff, if he's having multiple seizures it could cause brain damage. Look up the pill's and even alcohol's withdrawl symptoms as there are many and try to determine how bad it is, it's not really something that's recommended, kicking on his own with no medical supervision, but it has been done. Best of luck to you both!

Absolutely, his withdrawals should be monitored by the doctor, there are meds to help. It maybe signs of other problems with loads of drug abuse as well! Owch! Been there......
