Asthma: chronic disease where by the allergies to the pollutants in the air cause the airways to swell shut.

Emphysema: a chronic disease where the aveoli have started to burst, the air gets trapped in the lungs so the carbon dioxide builds up. When the person gets the air out and finally draws a breath, there is less oxygen in the polluted air so they start turning blue.

Pulmonary fibrosis: a chronic disease where fibroids start growing in the lungs taking up space and causing scar tissue. There will eventually be less normal lung tissue for gas exchange so the pollutants in the air "compete with the oxygen in the normal lung tissue making it hard for the person to breathe.
