Things I'd like to Know About Old Age.?

Please, no jokes. Why do old people's ears get bigger. Why do they get shorter and why do body odors get stronger?

I HERE YOU, MOTHER IN LAW WREAKS AND I CAN'T HELP AND WOUNDER IF IT'S NOT CAUSED BY ALL OF THE PILLS THEY FEED PEOPLE NOW DAYS. MY GRANDMOTHER WHEN SHE WAS OLD BACK BEFORE ALL THE WONDER DRUGS CAME OUT NEVER SMELLED LIKE THAT. WHEN I SAY PILLS I MEAN 12 PILLS A DAY EVERY DAY. I TOLD MY WIFE FORGET THAT WITH ME WHEN IT'S MY TIME THAT WILL BE IT.
YOU KNOW YOUR GETTING OLD WHEN YOUR HAIR ON YOUR HEAD MIGRATES DOWN TO YOUR A SS

cell death.

odors- no clue, but for everything else blame gravity!

The size of ears are genetic. People sometimes get shorter because bones shrink. I have a lady friend who is in her late 80's and stands barely 4'9" and used to be 5'4" in her younger years. Body odors get stronger because sometimes people cannot reach the areas where the odor emanates from. Sometimes it is just the chemicals in their bodies. Sometimes it's just plain poor hygiene.

Your ears never stop growing...ever! You nose keeps going on and on too-yuck! Gravity takes its toll and actually compresses the spaces between each vertebrae and, poof...you are shrinking. Not too sure about the odours-your skin does dry out so less showers and your hormone level is way different-so maybe its just a different smell that is not quite so appealing to someone with a higher hormone level. That part is just a guess though-the rest is fact. Good luck!

The odor thing, gross as this may sound, is simply that older people don't always bathe or shower as often or as throughly as younger people. Lots of old ladies go to hair appointments once a week to have their hair washed and set and it is not washed again until the next week.

The height thing is just part of nature, people typically shrink an inch or so with old age. Osteoporosis could also be a culprit.

I am clueless on the ear thing. The link below suggests that ears do not stop growing, and old people have large ears because they have had more time to grow.

If this is something you are serious about, I would suggest you get a job in a nursing home. Amazing the things you can find out about senior citizens there. Like how nice they are, and how they are people too, and then you realize that someday, somebody is going to ask them these questions, and you think, huh. I don't smell. I might have shrunk a little bit due to gravity, but not much, and I don't think my ears have gotten any bigger either. Huh.

A lot of old people get shorter from bad posture. They might have hurt themselves in a fall or from an injury caused earlier in life. They're not actually shorter; they're just not standing up straight. Most people don't stand up straight, no matter what their age; they slouch or slump a bit. Next time you鈥檙e in the shower or getting dressed near a mirror, check to see how you're standing then square your shoulders and stand straight up. Most people will notice that they're taller. But because most people have been slouching for so long it's an effort to stand that straight all the time and they laps back into the way they usually stand. There's nothing too wrong with this, although it鈥檚 always better to stand up properly. So that's usually why older people seem to shrink. Usually they're compensating for an injury or a body part that hurts or was hurt.

As for the other things, I'm not really sure :p
