Can grandchildren get any side affects from Agent Orange?

Our 12 year old grandson has stomach problems too often to be the flu. My husband was in Viet Nam & had contact with Agent Orange. Could there be any connection?

It's possible. Your grandson might need to be taken to a doctor for a check-up so you can find out what's going on with him.

Good luck!

No. Your children might have had some birth deffects (i hope they did not). But your grandchildren are in no way exposed to dioxines (Agent Orange), and no effects should be displayed on their health.

Almost certainly unrelated.

The only way I can conceive of any relation would be genetic damage to your husband which was passed on down as a genetic susceptibility for certain diseases (e.g. autoimmune) which could involve the gastrointestinal tract. Can't see that happening though, more likely to be hit by lightning I think. Anyways I don't know if that process has actually been researched...

In short: almost certainly not.

First, he needs to be tested for stomach ulcers, and IBS, or Irritable Bowel Syndrome. Other than that, I don't think there would be much effect from Agent Orange, your husband might have a higher risk for cancer, but this risk would not be passed down to the grandson since it is not related through genetics, hope this helps!
