Can a person that was affected by Agent Orange (from Vietnam War) pass the effects to their children?

My father-in-law has been greatly affected by Agent Orange he contracted while in Vietnam. He says he was already getting treatment for it prior to having children so they may not be affected by it. I'm concerned for my husband's sake although he seems to be in great health. Also concerned for our future children.

its complicated.
agent orange can cause mutations in the gametes (reproductive cells).

that is why agent orange effects the second generation so much.

if your husband has gotten to this age and is fine then you have nothing to worry about.

agent orange can cause birth defects and although your husband was lucky and has escaped these, its also possible that he is carrying a mutated gene.

there is very little chance that your children would inherit any birth defect.

you would have to also be carrying the same mutated gene. which is very unlikely.

if you are worried about this then talk to your gp before you decide to have children. you can get ur dna tested for common mutations.

dont worry about your husband tho, genetic defects are obvious from birth. so he is fine:D
