How can I tell if I am depressed? |
I feel that i am depressed. About 2 yrs ago I had a hysterectomy because I had uterine cancer. I was 25 when this happened. I do not have any kids, but really wanted them. YES I know adoption is one way, but I dont have the money to do that, plus i would be so scared that the parents would come and take the child. I have no energy at all. I feel like I am lost. I am married. After the hysterectomy, I lost the urge to have sex. I was thinking maybe that is my problem. Depression It's very possible that you are depressed. Often when someone over-comes something such as a cancer they fall into a depression. If you really want kids but can't afford adoption, then you could get a license to run a foster home. I was placed in foster homes for about five years of my life and I would have loved to have a home in which the mother running the home loved kids, and was caring and loving- which you seem to be. There is nothing like a foster mother who really wants to be a mother when the you feel so unwanted and so unloved. Maybe you can help these kids, and by doing so help yourself. All those kids want is someone who cares and you could provide that. The state provides the money that you may need to take care of the children in your care. Then eventually you could hopefully get the money to adopt a child of your own and once the adoption is legal, then no parent can take your child from you. I was adopted and my biological parents never were able to gain custody back and I'm 16 now. If you are worried about being depressed this might help - http://www.everydayhealth.com/publicsite... That had be difficult going through that surgery at such a young age. If you feel depressed you should visit your gyno and let him/her know. They should point in the right direction to talk to a professional. I know adopting is not the same as having your own child but imagine what a wonderful life you could give a child that is not wanted. It is rare that the biological parents come and take the child from the adopting family. Lack of sex drive, low self esteem and feelings of guilt for more than a couple of days are some symptoms of depression. check out www.depressionhurts.com it's a website promoting a drug called cymbalta but it has some good information. Good luck. It's a long road but things can get better. Sounds like you may need hormone replacement therapy. If your already taking them, you may need to adjust your dosage. I hear Suzanne Somers has a great book on bio identical hormones. Depression is really common in the U.S. My mom had it. It really sounds like you are depressed, but you really should look on the bright side of things. At least you know that people love you and always will be with you. I think that you should go towards adoption, a child is always so happy, and they will always give you something to wake up to in the morning. If you really dont want to adopt, try getting a dog. Dogs are so great, they are loyal and loving. Maybe the hysterectomy is your problem, but that was the past and you can never change that, just look towards the future. Major changes in any ones life can lead to depression. You have pretty good insight; so you should go check it out. You should go to your Dr. and get checked out. Hormones do a lot to your body. Good luck. Sorry to hear about your tragic illness. My motto is enjoy life today because you don't know what tomorrow will bring. try this website below if youve lost the urge to do the things you usually love to do and your tired a lot then you probably do have a case of depression (i myself had a mild case last year i know how it feels and the symptoms are well known), im sorry to hear about what you went through but on the bright side scientists and doctors ahve researched depression and there are many ways to cure it without pills, go see a professional or your regular doctor and they will refer you to the correct person to help you. good luck i really hope it all works out for you |
