| *Home>>>Adhesions |
I am facing surgery in a month and am terrified. I need to know how long recovery will be.? |
I have had bad pain for 2 months in llq of abd. I have had ultrasounds, ct scan, and myriad blood tests. The gp thought that is was adhesions, the 1st obgyn said she didn't know, not her field, she didn't want to do surgery. Sent to gastro, said not her field. Went to 2nd obgyn decided on hysterectomy before exam. Am scheduled for LAVH hysterectomy and oopherectomy as well as exploratory (probably to remove adhesions and possible endo). I can sympathise...big hugs...I had total abdominal hysterectomy 1 year ago. I finally started feeling better at about 5-6 weeks. Now I feel fabulous!!! I won't kid you it hurts, but since your doing lavh it shouldn't be as bad. Try hystersisters.com for support I swear by that website (it's free). And make sure you walk, walk, walk after surgery. Trust me, you don't want to get constipated from the drugs. The doctor actually couldn't figure out what was wrong with me (abdominal pain) until he got in there and saw tons of endometriosis. So talk your doctor, take one day at a time, and you'll be soooo relieved once it's over. Best of luck. You should ask the doctor about recovery time as only he knows exactly what he will be doing. I don't think he would do it unless he felt it was necessary AND that your other problems would not be in the way. Try and take it easy and not be scared. You may spend 1-2 days in the hospital with a 3 week recovery period. Laparoscopic surgeries tend to be less burdensome than traditional open incision surgeries. You'll be the best you can be - otherwise. Good luck.... recovery depends on you, i had the same operation and was back on my feet in about 5 weeks like nothing had ever happend, but there is a lot of pain that goes alone with the healing process . firstly sorry to hear about your troubles , just you keep thinking to yourself you are in the best place, and what you are having done will make your health better then it is at the moment , and every time you start to feel panicky try relaxations methods and try focusing your mind and other things( i know its easy said then done) but give it a go on the recovery side of things its really up to your body and how well it as coped with the surgery , just take one at a time i,m sure you will be fine . try not to worry it will work out |
