Benign...Fibro-adenoma in right breast?

I was diagnosed with this 2 years ago and they still suggested I have it removed however... What are the chances of it developing into something serious? Is it worth it to get it removed?

There is no chance of a fibroadenoma transforming into breast cancer.

However they are often surgically removed in a process called a "lumpectomy" just to give the patient reassurance that there is nothing to worry about and so they can no longer feel a lump.

Talk to your doctor about your options.

Please go and get it removed. I had the same thing. I had my right breat biopysied in Novemeber of 04, at that time it was the size of a marble and even though I wanted it removed my Gyn. didn't see any reason for it. In August of 05 my right breast was swollen almost double it's size, went to the ER when I couldn't get into my family md, and luckily there was a surgeon on call. He came in and took one look at it and told it that if I didn't have the lumpectomy done I would eventually loose all of my breast. The lump had grown to 10cm(the size of my surgeons hand!). I ended up loosing a 1/4 of my right breast at the age of 31 because my Gyn didn't see any reason for me to have the lumpectomy when I had the biopsy done. It is nothing to play around with or take chances with, please from one woman to another, go and have it removed..Good Luck!
