Anyone with pituitary adenoma? surgery?

Anyone with pituitary adenoma? surgery?

I have a pit tumor as part of Cushing's syndrome.
It is microscopic at the moment and we do not expect that to change.

I had both adrenals out and kept my tumor.
I get MRI's often to make sure it is not growing.
My ACTH levels are very high.

Good luck

In most cases this is the treatment of choice for these benign tumors.

Usually surgery is warranted when there's evidence the tumour is growing - especially if causing symptoms like hormone deficiencies, optic chiasm compression (causing vision probs).

Otherwise, I think radiation therapy can be quite effective in stunting cancer growth. But I believe it's more effective with adenomas which are non-secreting tumours (I'll have to look that up).

Pharmacological treatment I think is variable on the type of tumour (secreting/non-secreting, what it's secreting). But dopamine agonists are the main drugs I'm aware of which have decent results.
