Can enlarged adenoids cause hearing lost?

my daughter went to her doctor and they referred her to a specalist and he wants to remove her adenoids so she can hear.

I realize that on the face of it, it's natural you'd wonder "What do my daughter's adenoid tonsils have to do with her ears?" There is a good explanation.

The adenoids are in the midline of the nasopharynx and the Eustachian tubes open from either ear to the right and left of the adenoids. Very large adenoids (hypertrophic adenoids) will block the passage of air in both the nose AND the ears. But let's focus on the ears. This obstruction of the normal ventilation of the Eustachian tube and middle ear can cause otitis media (middle ear infection) The fluid that results and accumulates (middle ear effusion) affects hearing. Excise the adenoid tonsils (adenoidectomy) and you remove the obstruction. That's your answer.

Yes. They can block the Eustachian tubes, causing chronic infections of the ear. The blockage, or the infection, can cause temporary hearing loss. Here is some good information:
