Can enlarged adenoids cause hearing lost?

my daughter went to her doctor and they referred her to a specalist and he wants to remove her adenoids so she can hear.

I realize that on the face of it, it's natural you'd wonder "What do my daughter's adenoid tonsils have to do with her ears?" There is a good explanation.

Very large adenoids (hypertrophic adenoids) will block the passage of air in both the nose AND the ears. But let's focus on the ears. This obstruction of the normal ventilation of the Eustachian tube and middle ear can cause otitis media (middle ear infection) The fluid that results and accumulates (middle ear effusion) affects hearing. Excise the adenoid tonsils (adenoidectomy) and you remove the obstruction. That's your answer.
