Very Very Important Question!! Anyone whos kid has had their Adenoids removed please answer? |
My son went to a specialist today. They say his adenoids are huge and need to be removed. He has an ear infection and he pretty much stays constantly sick. They say this is because his enlarged adenoid is blocking draining passage for his ear and because it is so big it is blocking his immunitys when germs get caught in his nose. How safe is this? What was the reason your kid had to have them removed and what is the cost of this kind of thing? I really dont want to do this but they say they dissapear eventually anyways so what hsould i do? Please give me any input. I have been there and done that. My son would get ear infections go on antibiotics get better then get it again in a month. This went on for 2 years when we had enough and had his adenoids and tonsils removed. That was the best thing we have done for him-no more infections. I dont remember how much it cost but it was well worth it. We scheduled him for the first week of christmas holidays so he woulnt miss preschool. Which a lot of people seem to do the same thing because they have to be healthy at the time. Good luck. Have you tried chiropractic care? I ask this simply because you stated that you are not exactly wanting to do surgery. Studies have shown that the white blood cell count (immune system) increases by 200% within 15 minutes of a chiropractic adjustment. Ear infections are very commonly treated with great results by chiropractic. My son who is now 4 had constant and ear infections, sinus trouble, and bronchitis. After only one month of care all his symptoms were gone, including his digestive issues that we didnt even tell the doctor about. Chiropractic changed my life so much that I work with one. when my daughter was 4, she had her adenoids removed and tubes inserted for ear drainage...had lots of ear infections and all caused by allergies...had to stay home for 2 weeks and not be around other people and get germs from them...after 16 years...no problems with not having adenoids. Get another opinion; however, I remember one my sons having the same problem. He had a lot of ear infections. We had his adenoids removed and he improved a lot. It is relatively safe. Our insurance paid for most of it. Adenoids do not disappear. If they are too large they are not only causing chronic ear infections, but putting him at risk for obstructive sleep apnea, and other illness. The removal is simple and only takes a few minutes. My son could be heard snoring in his bed while we were in the basement. He had chronic ear infections and tonsilitis. It was a no brainer to get them removed and it helped my child alot. Well, I used to have ear infections all the time when I was a kid and at age 14 I had my adenoids and tonsils removed (usually the remove both of these and just call the whole procedure a tonsillectomy ) and I never had another earache after that and I'm in my mid 30's now...if your son has not responded to any other treatment, I can speak from experience that this would be a very beneficial treatment plan...of course less invasive alternatives should be exhausted first before opting for surgery. go here and check it out.. i had mine taken out when i was 20 but also did it when they took my tonsils out.. thats what they do most the time.. check out this below.. good luck I had mine taking out when i was about 5 and i didn't get as many ear infections then when i was 16 i had my tonsils finally taken out and i get alot less sick . so i would get the adenoids taking out and see if they can do the tonsils at the same time. good luck and let me know if you need any thing else |
