Does tonsilitis & adenoids surgery really help children?

Does tonsilitis & adenoids surgery really help children?

Leave the tonsils where they are. They help to kill germs that get into the throat. It was common to remove tonsils in children, but doctors now are reluctant to do it unless they get really infected and cause long-term problems. Don't remove them for no reason. Adenoids sometimes are removed if they are swollen and are blocking the eustacian tubes (that lead from the throat to the area behind the eardrum). Sometimes when this tube is blocked, it fills with fluid and causes some degree of temporary hearing loss.

I had mine in the seventies and I think wasn't worth but was painful. I thought they didn't do them any more...

I heard that it allows you to breath underwater without coming up for air.

Unless they have chronic problems with them they should be left alone.

I just got my adenoids removed yesterday, because they blocked 90% of the air coming through my nose, and it is helping, although i Haven't gotten the full effects yet since surgery causes swelling. It hurts in the back of my throat now, so thats the only bad part
