My daughter had her tonsills and adenoids out last week...? |
and she seems to have terrible breath. I have tried to find some information via the net about weather it may mean that the areas might be infected. I'm still waiting her Dr.'s office to call me back but they are so busy that it takes them forever to get back to me. Any info would be wonderful! The bad breath comes from the 1 week old blood left in your daughters throat from surgery and the couple of days thereafter. This will go away as soon as she is completely healed. Make her rinse in diluted non-alcoholic mouthwash. (1:1) and have patience. if she is old enough get her to gargle with salt water,if she isnt in extreme pain or bleeding this is normal part of healing Two of my three children have had their tonsils removed and both of them had bad breath for a week or so after the removal. I remember being scared of that too but apparantly it is normal. Just remember to push as much fluids as possible. The more moist her throat is the quicker it will heal. Hope this helps and good luck. |
