Which day if the worst after tonsils and adenoids out?

I have been through this with my older one but it was a few years ago, however my 5 year old had her tonsils and adnoids out on Tuesday.... she seemed fine for the first 2 days, yesterday was a little rough, now this morning she is feeling really bad and has vomited twice, but just clear and only a mouthful... has anyone had any recent experience with this. I will also call her Dr. but just wanted to know your expericences

she temp. is normal
she is feeling bad, kinda just laying around
no bleeding, the vomit is clear and only a small amount.. I am getting her to sip water now. she wont dring the gator aid

Usually the third day is the worst for any kind of surgery. That has been my experience in what I've seen. However, if she is vomiting and still not seeming to be getting any better, she might have an infection or maybe a little bleeding that is oozing down into her tummy. Bless her heart. Call the doctor and do exactly what they tell you. I sure hope she feels better SOON!

Is she feeling any better at all? I've been wondering all afternoon. No milk. It really is bad for an upset tummy plus it makes the mucous secretions triple in amount. I pray she's MUCH better. Report It

This should not be. If you cannot get in touch with the doctor right away go to the ER. There may be blood clots.

It takes a day and sometimes two for the anesthetic to completely leave the system. It's possible that her vomiting is a delayed reaction to anesthesia or that she's swallowed some blood. Because the scalpels used are very high-tech (harmonic and laser), the chances of postop bleeds are much, much lower than they used to be and what bleeding there is, is minimal. From what you described, the vomiting doesn't sound serious but I wish now that you'd been more descriptive about how she feels - in pain? Nauseated? Fatigued? What?

I'm glad you're going to speak to her Head & Neck surgeon about this. Before you do, get her temperature and be prepared to describe what you've observed, when you observed it and try to get details from your daughter as to what she's feeling. My belief is that she'll be fine.

I had a tonsillectomy 3 years ago, I'm 25 yrs. old now. I also had the adenoids out. My experience may be different being I am older but It did hurt the next day following the surgery to about a week and a half after was the worst!! So in between that time was rough. I had to refill my liquid Vicodin twice bc the pain was bad and that was the only thing that helped with it.

He/she will get better gradually.
