Asthma and a permenant blocked nose!?

My son is now seven and a half was diagnosed with asthma on his 2nd birthday after being rushed into hospitol with pneumonia. Its under control but for the last year he has had a blocked nose with a little mark on the top of his nose!
The asthma nurse says it sounds like his adenoids but they dont take them out routinly anymore and that was it.He cant eat properly, sleep etc
Would like to know if it could be something else or if it is his adenoids why wont they take them out,do they grow out of it?My heart breaks when I watch him strugglig to breathe and the doctors wont help.

my son has had his tonsils and adanoids out he is six he used to snore really badly because they were so enlarged and i spent years with him waking up in night as he wasn't breathing properly he is six nearly seven and the difference since removal is amazing!
Persist with doctors i did have to make several appointments with gp before finally getting referred to see a specialist at hospital and tell them its not just your son but the stress and worry you are going through on his behalf.

If you hassle the doctors and tell them you want them removing they will do it. Most things on the NHS they will not 'routinely' do now unless you hassle them.

I am 37 and my asthma is finally under control, do you know how I did it? hassling my doctors for medication that I found out about and researched, they did... well nothing apart from just issuing repeat perscriptions...

Get your GP to make a referral for him to see the ENT specialist at hospital.(insist on it.....) They can check what is causing this. A childs nose is very easy to break (did he ever hurt it?) A broken nose can still look straight but the inner nose can be damaged and restrict airflow. A simple operation can correct it. A blocked nose makes asthma worse as he can not clear mucas & it goes down the throat and causes chest infections etc.

I still have my adenoids and tonsils and I'm from the era that had them out routinely. I am a "mouth breather", often wondered if I had my adenoids out if I could breath easier.

You could try those "breath right" strips. Probably will need to cut them in half for his little nose!

Have you tried "over the counter" things like "Sunbreeze", a dab under his nose will open up his nasal passages.
