Does anyone else experience excessive ear popping? What can be done about it?

I have had excessive ear popping for many years. Nearly every time I swallow or yawn they pop. I don't even have to swallow or yawn. I can do nothing and they pop. It's very uncomfortable after they've popped. The pressure is very uncomfortable and everything is noisy. There's constant white noise and it sounds like air is flowing through my ears. If I plug my nose and close my mouth and suck in, my ears tighten again and the pressure is comfortable again. The comfort does not last long, though. As soon as I swallow, yawn, or even do nothing, they pop again and become uncomfortable again. I have talked to 2 ENT specialists about it and they say they've never heard of anything like this before and they don't seem to care to try and figure out what's going on. I have a history of ear problems (ear infections as a child, adenoids removed, hearling loss in left ear, dizziness, tubes in both ears.) I chalk it up to that, but I just have to know...Am I the only one this happens to?

It is quite possibly related to all your ear infections. Sounds like a disorder of the eustacian tube. The eustacian tube works to equalize the pressure behind your eardrum. When ever your ear POPS that is the eustacian tube opening usually and releasing pressure. So you may have a eustacian tube that opens too much. See website below for more information.

This happens to me too.
I was diagnosed by an ent doctor as having Post Nasal Drainage and he blamed it on allergies
He gave me nasonex and claratin...
the claratin didn't let me sleep
and the nasonex made the ear popping more painful...
I quit taking both and I try to tolerate it the best I can.
some things that help are
using a neti-pot :

or just flushing your sinuses with warm salt water...
using vicks vaporup behind the ears under the eyes and on the nose sometimes gives relief
massaging my head, ears, chin, face often makes
me feel better
lastly, sometimes this helps:
plug your nose and blow **very gently** (be careful)
this should clear your ears a little bit for at least awhile.

I feel your pain, I know exactly what you are going through.
