My 4 yo boy smells like he has got an infection, he complains? |
of tummy aches and being tired all the time, he seems to loose energy very quickly, this has been on going since birth, he was born heavy meconium in his lungs, at 2yo 6 months had adenoids removed diagnosed sleep apnea, iron deficency at 2and half, why is he always tired? why does he smell strange, its a sweet, but putread smell? ant ideas? There are two sweet odors that I know of. One is fruity breath, which is indicative of diabetic ketoacidosis. The second is more like what you described and is characteristic of a bacteria called pseudamonas aeruginosa. It can infect any part of the body. It is usually an opprotunistic infection, meaning that it plays on those who are immunocompromised (like those with HIV, undergoing chemo, or, in your son's case, impaired lung function). The iron deficiency would account for why he feels tired all the time. My advice is to take him to your pediatrician, tell him about the odor and any other concerns that you may have. He or she can then do some tests to identify what is causing your child to be unwell. |
