For Mums Or Dad who's Child Suffer From Obstructive Sleep Apnea?? Or Had An Adenotonsillectomy???

I was just wondering if your child was constantly exhausted??
My eldest 2yo boy, has had OSA since he was born, but it has recently gotten really bad. He is constantly grumpy and tired. He is in bed at 7pm and wakes as much as every 20 minutes. He is having his tonsils and adenoids out next month.
How did you cope???
I am physically and mentally drain most days, as I over worry about him stopping breathing. I know the doctor have all told me this is normal, but he is my baby (and a real mummies boy) and I hate seeing it.
How was your child after the adenotonsillectomy??
Did he/she recover well???

Any advice would be great!!! My man & I would appreciate it!!
Thanks xxxx

It will help immensely. The snoring will stop almost overnight. And the quality of sleep he will get will be amazing. (I said quality; not quantity. That may not differ after surgery.)

My daughter was much better after her tonsillectomy. She didn't have her adenoids out, though.
She's always had sleep disturbances.
The surgery didn't cure that, but did decrease it. We found other ways to deal with her behaviors.
And the recovery time was very short. She was up and running the next day. And I don't think she's stopped yet :))
She's just had her 19th birthday, and is getting married next week.
Happy baby.

My tonsils came out at age 5 and I recovered quite nicely. My friend's son had his out at age 21 and same thing.

Get a big box of those long thin ice things that people suck in the summer -- the cold will be soothing. When I was a kid they let us have ice cream, but when my friend's son was done 6 years ago, ice cream was a no-no.

I hope the operation takes care of his OSA .

Hang in there -- sleep is just a few months away.

My son had his tonsils and adnoids removed when he was 5. I know he still snores (he's 25 now) but his allergies improved, (didn't go away, though), and he stopped getting strep throat every time I turned around. It was hard to get him to get his fluids down because his throat hurt so much, but after about a week he was back to normal. I don't remember him being excessively tired, (that was 20 years ago), but I do remember his breathing stopping when he slept as a baby. It drove me crazy and I put him in a separate room at three months because I wasn't getting any sleep because I'd wake up panicking every time his breath caught. (His wife tells me he still has sleep apnea, so I think it's a fix but not a complete fix. On the other hand, sleep apnea is a family trait, so maybe it's more than the adnoids in our family.)

YOUVE COPED TILL NOW, IM SURE YOU CAN HANDLE THE NEXT MONTH, YOUR STRONG!!!!!!!! [bloody caps lock!]

i had my tonsils , adenoids, and tubes in my ears at 5 years old cos i was a mess!, and my mum says it changed my life!, i feel so sad for you, i hope you get your rest and your son can wait another month and not be too bad, xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
