A question about sinus cultures (i.e. for sinusitis)????? |
Hi, I had a culture of my sinuses today because I get very frequent sinus infections and the antibiotics are no longer working. I'm starting to feel an infection coming on, but I don't tend to get any nasal discharge since I got my adenoids removed (I do get a lot of post nasal drip though, and when I spit, it's yellow). Anyway, they did it in each nostril and at the back of my throat with a long cotton swab. I was that the swab was yellow when the nurse was putting it back in the little tube, and I'm wondering, was that yellow from the infection (i.e. the mucus), or is that the color of the swab? I know that sometimes the swabs used for certain tests are colored, so I was wondering if anyone knew? The swab cotton color is WHITE ... so yes the color came from the infection. I noticed that you said the antibiotocs were no longer working. Dear, |
