My child's Breathing?

My son is 15 months and he is a twin. My daughter that is the other twin is doing fine in everything. My son is the one having breathing problems. He sleeps in weird positions at night and often wakes up screaming and crying cause he cant' beathe. I am switching doctors because his current doctor keeps telling me its just the weather but I dont think so. He even acts annoyed when I keep bringing my son in so much. My baby had a chest scan and revealed his lungs are clear. Do you think his adenoids are to big for his age possibly interferring with his breathing? I told hte doctor I have a cat and myabe he is jsut allergic and he said "yuh that could be it." Or could it be something else. Btw I use the humidifier at night which seems to help somewhat.

Excellent that you are changing doctors!! Good move with the humidifier also.

If the lungs are clear, then it has to be something in the upper airways. A pediatric Ear Nose and Throat specialist may be what he needs at this time. It is not the Doctor's job to be annoyed with you when you bring in your son. However, this does happen and then they tend not to take things as seriously. Changing docs is a good thing.

My friend had a daughter that had to have her adenoids removed. Her daughter had similar symptoms to what your son is having. It could be the cat, but if you try benedryl that should help.

I hope my suggestions help. I have a 15 month old who currently has a cold, which is nothing compared to what you are describing, but my 5 year old has contributed to many of grey hairs with his asthma and allergies. Good Luck.

a humidifier should work

Personally I think your son may have a sleep disorder that should be evaluated by someone familiar with them.

The fact he is a FRATERNAL twin means his sister's good health has no bearing on his situation (but good she's better off).

This article is somewhat technical, but it does show for those who would be skeptical that a young child can have a sleep disorder, that they most certainly can.

If you can, a pediatric otolaryngologist sounds likes a good first choice to see. I think obstructive sleep apnea is a very real possibility from what you describe.

Good luck.

I think you are right in switching to another doctor. It could be something that only happens when he is laying down. Write things down as they happen to document them. Then take it to the Dr. Is there anything in your sons room that's not in your daughters? I hope your son gets better really soon. Happy Holidays!!

was he tested for asthema?...My kids have breathing problems...they have allergy probs too we get pulmacourt...for the breathing machine we have

Has he been checked for asthma? You should take him to a specialist. His lungs may have been clear when they were checked, but was he breathing normally at the time they checked them? I have asthma, and my lungs show up clear when I am not having any problems.
