Chronic Sinusitis 鈥?I鈥檓 sick so much its like having a terminal disease 鈥?cant hold down a job health wise

I have been on antibiotics at a minimum of once a month but usually twice a month for the last two years. I get chronic sinusitis with fevers. I have a lot of excess mucus that turns glue like so I can鈥檛 blow my nose. My mucus drains down my throat and gives me infections. The infections make me cough which causes ear infections. The only way I can blow my nose is if I cry. But when I blow my nose my head feels like it is blowing up like a balloon and the area right about my eyebrows pounds in pain. In Nov 2007 I have my tonsils and adenoids removed and I thought it would be my solution. I have spent thousands of dollars in specialist appointments and going to the regular doctor. I have lost two jobs this year from being sick and I am worried about losing the job I鈥檓 at yet. I can鈥檛 qualify for family medical leave unless I can keep a job longer than a year. I鈥檓 worried that I am going to become immune to antibiotics. My boyfriend is tired of having a girlfriend who is always sick and I have caused quite a strain on my family time wise and money wise. Do I need some other type of surgery? Is there anyone out there that has experienced getting sick all the time and found some sort of solution? Do I need to start getting the flu shot? What can I do鈥?I鈥檓 going crazy and I feel like doctors aren鈥檛 helping me and I鈥檓 sick so much that it feels like all of my friends and family just get annoyed when I get sick as if it is my fault. But I know it is not my fault I always follow everything the doctors tell me and in the end I usually only end up hooked on more medications. I work in a daycare right now because I am working on getting certified in elementary education. A lot of people in my life try to tell me that I get sick because I work at daycare but I have only been out of college for one year and I got sick this often last year when I didn鈥檛 work with children. Please help me! And does anyone know where someone with as many health problems as me on brand name medications can get insurance for less than 400 dollars cause that鈥檚 where I am at now.

It isn't your fault you are getting sick! Here is some of what I can offer for help:

For the immediate sinus pain -
You can make a simple saline nasal rinse with 1/4 tsp sea salt, 1/4 tsp baking soda in 8 oz of warm water. Stir until dissolved. Inhale (or use neti pot, or dropper) through each nostril, or put in with a spray bottle or dropper. My mom swears by this. My husband also swears by this. He holds one nostril closed, while inhaling the concoction through the other, then switches sides.

You can try adding 4 drops of grapefruit seed extract to the mixture for any infection. You can also get grapefruit seed extract pills and take them. It really sounds to me more like you are suffering respiratory yeast overgrowth, and that would explain why they are chronic, and you keep having to take antibiotics. The antibiotics actually ENCOURAGE yeast growth. They kill the good bacteria too, and keep it out of balance. Adding probiotics in the form of pill or kefir will help, and you need to to that pronto to get your bacterias back in balance. Kefir 3x a day, or probiotic pill at least 1 x a day - away from the Grapefruit seed extract as it will also kill good bacteria. Also, start taking biotin daily - for proper absorption, you need to take it with magnesium. It helps with yeast.

Do NOT get the flu shot. http://www.lewrockwell.com/alston/alston...

You may want to switch MO and go to a naturopath instead of an MD. They are usually much cheaper, and can really help you understand how symptoms are related. They won't prescribe drugs, but will give you remedy options that are cheap and will include a diet adjustment and potentially supplementation. Your overall person will be dealt with, not just symptoms.

The antibiotics are actually feeding the infections. And, having your tonsils and adenoids out really didn't help, unfortunately. That isn't the source of your problem.

You need to see another Ear, Nose and Throat specialist. There is surgery available for chronic sinusitis. I have chronic sinus infection also, but not to the degree you are describing. Have you had an MRI ? If not you should. If you need assistance with getting your medication try this site: https://www.pparx.org/Intro.php

I'm not sure if this can help you while you are on antibiotics, but eat a thing of yogurt when u take each pill.

You need to start with an ENT doc as others have suggested and get an MRI to see whats going on inside the sinuses. You also need to figure out why the infections are occurring - its usually due to a physical obstruction, or allergies, or in your case, maybe a resistant bacteria or fungus that has never actually gone a way in spite of the antibiotics. To rule out resistant bacteria, the docs should get a culture of the things growing in your sinuses.

It would be a good idea to simultaneously see an allergist to get tested for allergies. This will determine if allergies could be causing the problem. The allergist may be able to prescribe an appropriate anti-histamine or provide allergy shots to desensitize you.

One other thing you can do on your (if you haven't already tried it) is to try out Claritin-D or Zyrtec-D, along with Mucinex maximum strength. This combo can keep the sinuses draining in many people.

Loriala, I aso have the identical problem I live in Rhode Island. Where it is always damp. Perhaps, move to Arizona. fjw14
