My Child went to an ear, nose and throat specialist now needs surgery after a 20 minute appointment? |
we went because I believed my child was having hearing troubles due to wax blocking the ear canal, during the appointment the doctor looked in his mouth and said he needs his tonsils, adenoids removed because they were too large as well as tubes in the ears. I'm wondering now if this might have been a premature diagnosis, is this the way this always goes? Is there anyone who has had a similar surgery with some insight? If I was you I would get a second opinion elsewhere. If they say the same thing then i guess your child needs it. I did get my tonsils taking out in 4th grade and almost died.I am also hard of hearing. They had to put a breathing tube down my throat.I'm ok now at 28 years old. Report It i wish i could have my tonsils out...but im too old...this sounds about right...honestly the youunger they are the better and now im too old and im paying the consequences because i have chronic tonsilitis but not chronic enough that they can remove them...so painful its pretty common for kids to have their tonsils and adenoids removed...usually they get them removed after a certain occurances of certain illnesses a year.....the tube in the ears may be for the pressure/fluid drainage in the ear......they usually do all these procedures in one surgery and its a pretty routine surgery.....i had it when i was about 6...and my two brothers got it on the same day when they were about 4 and two or something like that.....i had tubes in my ears-which i remember one falling out when i was in biology class in junior high- i also had frequent ear infections...neither of my brothers had they tubes tho......if you don.t feel comfortable w/what this specialist, see another one for a second opinion........btw..was there wax blockin his ear canal? I actually was deaf for a while and my stupid parents didn't even notice. Lucky for me, a nurse dropped by and pointed out that I could no longer hear. |
