Adenoid surgery?

Has anyone here had their adenoids removed? I'm 29, and I heard the pain is worse for adults? Also, why did you have to get them removed? My adenoids have been enlarged for several months, and they did not get smaller with the antibiotics prescribed by the ENT! The doctor said he will not know what is going on until they come out!

My daughter had her adenoids & tonsiles removed at the same time. She had never had tonsilitits, she was always congested & snored and when I questioned her doctor about it he sent us for x-rays and then to a ENT. He took one look at the x-rays and her throat and we were at the hospital two weeks later! I was surprised at how long the recovery time was...she was out of school over three weeks! As long as you follow doctors orders and take your pain meds as soon as you get home (don't wait for the pain to start. It is easier for the meds to work before the pain starts rather than after) You should be fine. Good luck.

I had my adenoids removed when I was 7 years old. I was constantly congested and couldn't breathe. My condition never improved afterwards. I had another sinus surgery years later which actually made it worse. But, if you think it will improve your condition, go for it. Good luck!
