Adenoids? qqquestion!?

So about 9 years ago; I was getting tubes put in my ears because I had very bad ear infections, and the doctors also took out my adenoids when they put the tubes in. I asked my mom why they took them out, and she said that the doctors told her I needed them out. But I thought adenoids helped you from getting sick, why would they take them out?

You don't really need them and they can harbor bacteria and allow it to become more resistant to treatment, so they are often removed in people with frequent ENT infections

Mu grandson had his removed and no longer is sick or has ear infections.Also does not snore ar sleep with his mouth open. He is only 7 but was the best thing.Much healthier now.
