Anyone had their adenoids removed recently and how is it done? |
We found out my daughter has very large adenoids and will have to have them removed. Can I ease her worry by letting her know that it is an easy procedure?? :-) I hope it is. I had mine removed when I was 8 years old. I remember having a soar throat. One thing I do remember and makes me sad was that when I woke up there were no familiar faces around me - and made me sad. The only thing that I looked forward back then was the natural lemon ice cream (not milk based). I also remember eating lots of soups. The discomfort was gone in a couple of days. Tell your daughter that she will be fine. my sister had this problem as well. The adenoids being removed wasn't the problem the widening of the throat was. Its a fairly easy procedure but it is a very pain full recovery. If i remember right they go in through the mouth and then up to the nose above the roof of your mouth to take them out. Then they cut your throat in 4 places stretch and cut the skin to widen the throat if you can get the option of not widening her throat go for it because i think this is the majority of the pain and nasty taste in her mouth. |
