| *Home>>>Adenoidectomy |
I took my 4yr old to the doctor for a school physical. I leave with him telling me she needs adenoidectomy? |
I was aware of her snoring and that it was abnormal but just that she snored lol! She also has persistant runny nose I thought was allergies. He says this is quite serious because the apnea causes drops in oxygen which of course begins killing off brain cellls and if left untreated can even affect the heart! WTF??? I was only taking her for a physical!!! Funny thing is, my son who has TONS of tonsil infections is NOT recommended for tonsilectomy. Go figure. Can someone tell me more. I know I can google but I want real people with real experiences. Thankyou! I am curious as to how well she hears. My brother's adenoids grew so large, when he was a small guy, that he went totally deaf.........until the adenoids came out. Sleep apnea is nothing to fool around with. It is sad that it took so long for medicine to realize that snoring children and sleep apnea are connected to one another. You should get a 2nd opinion with another doctor. im 25 now and abut the same age i had the same diagnosis, even needeing to be operated. my parents never agreed and chose to treat me with food. iodine seems to do good for it and i ate tons of seaweed (im half japanese which has helped). once i had an infection in the ear, seemed to be related, not sure, but that was all. Go for a second and third and fourth opinion, and an alternative kind of especialist. Thing is, operations are a really good chance of making money for the doctors (really good money), and they even end up believing that this is the best to do, but many times its just money speaking thorugh their mouths. If you go to the doctors in an "operate it" mood, you can get back losing many pieces... im sorry for my poor english, im not a native speaker ;) |
