Question for addison's disease patients-?

I was diagnosed with addison's disease and hypothyroidism four years ago- My addison's has been very stable for the last two years. Have you been diagnosed with any new autoimmune conditions, if so what? How long have you had addison's disease? Have you had bone density checks? (I have not) What were the circumstances leading up to your diagnoses?

Thanks.

I am on cortisone-62 mg a day of cortisone, .1 mg of florinef, and .75mg of synthroid.(eltroxin)

I have Addisons also with Hypothyroidism (2 years diagnosed) and I haven't developed any new auto-immune diseases.

You say you are taking "62 mg cortisone", I assume this means hyrdocortisone or cortef, I have to say this sounds way too high to me, when I was first diagnosed I was taking 40-50 mg/ day, but my endocrineologist tapered that down to only 15 mg/ day now with the .1 mg florinef (and 200 mcg synthroid)

are you seeing an endocrineologist? if not you should be seeing one regularly in addition to a gp, I really think you should ask them if the cortisone / cortef / hydrocortisone is too high, it's my understanding that you are supposed to take the absolute minimum of these and then take more for heavy exertion etc.

and I haven't had any bone density tests, however I do take a calcium supplement and get regular exercise

good luck

i am not with addison disease,,,but i can tell u something important ,,the bone densit is important becoz steroids replacement cause osteoporosis,,regarding autoimmune diseases,,u have 2 ,,,u r in risk of more,,,diabetus,,,vitiligo,,and hypopituitarism,,,just some backgroud info ,,i am an ophthalmologist ,,,u need a endocrinologist to follow up on regulariy ,,,( u r on hydrocortisone and thyroxine?)thyroxine has no side effects ,.,,so be safe ,,regarding the dose u mentioned its low ,,isnt high ,and weak steroid not potent one, sounds very safe ,.,,but for your own reassurance,,take the bone density at least now ,,to make sure its fine,,,also your blood pressure ,,blood sugar ,,,from your picture u dont look to have apparent moon face ,,,,,
