Quick questions about disability and how much do you receive?

Since 23 I've been having a nightmare rollercoaster with my health. Endo has found I have addison's disease, diabetes insipidus, hypothyroid, hypogonadism, and we still don't know the cause or if it will get worse. I also have cramps and sore muscles days after I use them. Very little and slow muscle recovery keep me off my feet and unable to even walk on the treadmill for now.

Well I was in need to move out soon and get on my own, also getting plans to get married soon(yeah, wonderful timing..).

I simply do not have a steady schedule due to my health issues, and I was looking into Disability.. how could I survive on disability?

I doubt it will be much, but I just want to know my options.. and if I take it, pray like hell it will be temporary..

I am on both SSI and SSDI I receive $634.00 a month. I get both Medicaid and Medicare (Health Insurance) And I live in section 8 housing which is really nice so my rent is $124.00 a month. and I receive $60.00 the Link card (food stamps). The amounts vary depending where you live.

You can work while you receive benefits. They take half of what you earn when you make over a certain amount.

For example If the limit is $80.00. and i make $90.00. That's $10.00 over the limit so I keep half of $10.00 which is $5.00. 5+80=85 so I get $85.00 of what I made and I get my $634.00. 85+634=719 so I get $719.00 dollars a month.

If i make under 80 a month they take nothing.

The amounts vary from state to state.

because I get both SSI and SSDI my thing may be different. than what you get.

I hope this did not confuse you I know it did me at first. and this is only a small section of the information you will get when you apply. Do not worry though the people there are very nice and will explain it all to you.

Good luck

If you are applying for SS Disability, you have to be completely unable to work in any capacity. You will have to fight for your benefits, SS will deny almost always the first time around, then there are appeals. Meanwhile, the money is not coming in, so you would need someone to help support you. When you do succeed in receiving benefits, it is based on how much money you earned and how many people are in the family and all that stuff. Believe me, it's poverty level funding.

In Alabama S.S.I. pays $623.00 A month not much to live on
you would probably need to get an apartment in low income
housing such as section 8 housing and learn how to spend
your money wisely to qualify for disability insurance you would have to work on a job for a certain amount of time and it is base on how much money you made and paid in on the job.
