Acupuncture for Nerve Pain?

I suffered severe nerve & mammary duct damage following surgery to remove two breast lumps in July, 2005. The pain is unbearable .I can no longer work or sleep more than a couple hours at a time because the knife-stabbing pain awakes me.

The pain covers the entire left side; breast , chest, rib area and left arm down to my fingers. The mammary duct pain from being damaged during surgery is horrifying- I feel like I am being stabbed with a large knife.

I tried a procedure in which a doctor injected me 9 painful times with a huge needle, trying to block the nerves completely; it didn鈥檛 work. Pain medications do nothing for me.

I鈥檝e sought help from seven doctors, two of which were pain specialists.

I now prefer trying alternative medicine.

Has anybody tried acupuncture for nerve pain/mammary duct damage? If so, was it successful?

I am also seeking referrals for FEMALE acupuncturists in the Livermore/Pleasanton, CA area. It is important she be compassionate, capable, and has no sense of arrogance. I have really been poorly treated by doctors following this surgery and can not handle any further emotional damage; the physical damage is draining enough.

Any information is greatly appreciated! Peace!

Well I cant recommend an acupuncturist where you live. I can say my mother went for slipped disks and she felt some what better after 1 visit. I would say that when you go make sure that the person has been trained and has a license. I go to one who was actually a doctor in china. He now can only practice acupuncture here.

My friend's father's back pain was healed with acupuncture. I know people who have experienced healing with Chinese medicine who have been given up on by western doctors. They believe that disease occurs when energy pathways are blocked. If acupuncture doesn't work though, you might want to try Spring Forest Qi Gong. It is a more powerful way to unblock the energy pathways.
It is the easiest to learn of the Qi Gong practices. It's something you can learn on your own with a DVD.
