Is Qi energy, that is taught in Eastern practices, the same thing as the body's bioelectricity?

I haven't studied much into it, but I've heard many interesting things about acupuncture, and I'm curious if the eastern practice of manipulating the body's flow of Qi is the same, or similar to, manipulating the channels of electricity in the body.
Or is it not that simple?

Qi is translated as "life-force energy" in Chinese, and it is essentially the bioelectricity that flows in and around our body (although this is not limited to humans).

Qi is developed and harnessed either through the food we eat, the air we breathe, and the environment we live in. One of the main principle ways in which qi is harnessed is through breathing and stretching exercises. Yoga, tai chi, qi gong, reiki and other arts all place an important emphasis on the breath, as this will help to bring in the qi into the human body, and create positive physiological changes in the blood, tissues, cells, organs, muscles and tendons.

In Chinese medicine, the natural flow of qi inside the human body is conducive to the health and well-being of an individual. Specifically, there are twelve pathways (or meridians) in which the qi flows, and should there be an obstruction or blackage of qi, acupuncture is often used to unblock it (the slight tingling sensation felt by patients during the insertion of acupuncture, is the qi itself). Sometimes when the acupuncturist inserts the needle, and then returns a couple minutes later to twist it, you can feel an invisible, tense line runing up and down you leg, arm, or chest (depending on where the needle is inserted). This is the meridian in which qi is flowing.

Quantitatively, qi has been measured by scientists who use instruments that gauge electrical impulses. Qi gong masters, or practitioners who don't use needles, but their hands to treat patients, have the ability to emit qi from the palms of their hands at a rate of a hundred times stronger than the average person. The effects of qi and the research physicians have done in China have been published, recorded and translated into English, and archived at Universities such as Stanford, where medical professionals can read and study about the effects of qi (some of the research involving the cure for cancer; although this has already been known in China for thousands of years).

While qi may seem like an invisible, abstract concept, it really is in fact a very tangible and concrete substance.

The body's bioelectricity is just that...the electricity your body emits or creates. Qi is the engery (life force) of your body as it flows through channels. Qi is in everything. It is very interesting and I would recommend you study it.

Yes, it is that simple -- it's just many names for the same energy. Ki, prana, chi, light, bioenergy, all refer to the life force that is within and around us.

Acupuncture is a way to release blockages and restore the proper flow of energy through the body. You can also do this by meditating, practicing yoga, receiving a massage or Reiki treatment, herbally, homeopathically, using crystal energy or sound energy, or ... or ... or ...

All alternative and complimentary therapies work to manipulate the energy flow of the body to bring it back into balance. Some therapies work better for some people than others do. I've used acupuncture to open my crown chakra and release fear ... both times with super results.

Find a good acupuncturist that not only knows the physical aspects of the treatment, but also the spiritual, emotional, and mental aspects, as well.

"Qi" energy, whatever it might be, is like God. You are free to believe that it exists if it makes you feel better, but it has absolutely nothing to do with anything that is observable or measurable by either scientific instruments or human senses.

What a bunch of hokum.

How GULLIBLE are you people??

It differs one to another. Qi, chi or ki is purely energy. It may from outside or from your body as a material. But bio electricity is product by energy.
You can accumulate energy from outside to get into your body, i.e food, drinks, practicing reiki, qigong, nui gong, etc. But your bioelectricity is a manifest (product) from your energy accumulated, such an expanded aura, big flowing energy.
For what energy you gain, it can be accumulated become your bio energy, or bio electricity.

Not that simple, at all. Qi is the life force energy that flows, often, synonymously with the electrical impulses throughout the body. It also flows through the Earth, often along creeks. It is effected by electricity and magnetism, and it effects them, but it is not them...
