No period in over a year, only 20 years old...?

here are some things that i have done....acupuncture w/ chinese herbs, vitex(chasteberry), female toner, went to the doctor had my prolactin levels, my thyroid, and my pitutary gland and possibly some other things checked out and everything was perfect. however i did not have my estrogen and progesterone levels checked. i live in a little town witha doctors office and they cant do that test...I don't have any symptoms of anything, I know i don't have PCOS..had pelvic exam done and things were good. have had about 4 UTI and 1 kidney infection as well as bacterial infection but got all that taken care ok, am not on BC pills nor any medications. I do not do drugs..I'm 5'3 110lbs cannot gain weight i have tried. I smoke cigaretts and drink on the weekends..menstrual problems run in my family however i don't think it was this bad. I get brown spotting alot and cramps here and their, sometimes the spotting is pink or red but not too heavy, sometimes alot when i wipe after urinating

I don't understand what you mean when you say you "live in a little town with a doctors office" and they can't test progesterone and estrogen. In the U.S., these tests are routinely shipped off to both national laboratories like LabOne and LabCorp and Mayo, and also to the nearest city with a lab that can do the tests. These blood vials get shipped overnight with refrigeration to anywhere in the country. So what you say simply doesn't make sense to me. And what prevents you from getting a referral to a specialist and going for a little drive to the nearest city?

I went nearly a year without a period, but that was do to some medication I was on. You need to find a specialist that can perform the tests you need. Even if that means a long drive.
Since it sounds like you are not on any medications that would prohibit menstruation, find a doctor. That may be your only VISIBLE symptom now, but it could be an indication to something more serious.

I'm a nurse. It sounds to me that the brown spotting and the small amounts of blood is your period, you are OK. I wouldn't worry unless you develop other symptoms. You should then see a doctor. You are fine and don't need to worry. To me this is just part of your family history of problems. Now breathe you are going to be OK.
