Listen to my words!?

I keep getting answers i already know...I am 20 years old i started my period when i was 13 they were normal i would say for the first year then started to get farther apart ranging about every 2/3 months. I got married when i was 19 and stopped having periods all together. I dont have any symptoms of anything, just no period. I am not stressed. I am 5'3 110 pounds..Lost alot of weight too fast but that was 4 years ago and i still had periods after that..I did go to the doctors and they did some blood work i had my prolicatin levels, thyroid, pitutary glands checked all came out perfect..I do not have PCOS. I have been pregnant a couple times befor but lost them due to abuse all of them were around 3-5months along..menstrual problems run in my family. but i have not had in over a year. the docs keep telling me wait it out...im going nuts. tried acupuncture, vitex, female toner, chinese herbs, ovulex ect. nothing worked

Amanda,

Oh, dear, this is a stinker. All the easy answers have been checked out.

This abuse that you suffered, it resulted in spontaneous abortion? Could that be part of the reason? You''ve been checked for Asherman's Syndrome, for intrauterine adhesions?

Your weight could be a contributing factor. You are a little light, and losing weight quickly has been known to cause temporary amenorrhea.

How's your cervical diameter? While cervical stenosis, and related cessation of menses, normally occurs after a surgical procedure, still it might be worth asking about in the absence of other causes.

It sounds as though you have not been on birth control pills, is that right? Because if you have, stopping them has been known to cause this problem for several, even many months.

Speaking of that, have you had a pelvic exam? I would imagine so, but if not, certain conditions seen there (dry endocervix, smooth vaginal interior) might lead your doctor to check your estrogen levels.

Are you on any medications? Do you use any recreational drugs?

You speak of several indicators seen in your tests, but you do not mention FSH for ovarian function.

Did they do a progesterone withdrawal test? After what you have had done, I would think that this might be the next step. It takes about two weeks to complete, taking progesterone for 7 to 10 days, then stopping it and waiting for 2-7 days to see if you have any bleeding.

If this test shows withdrawal bleeding, and you have normal prolactin and TSH levels, then I would begin to suspect your weight is playing a major part in this condition.

When did you lose your weight? You say you lost it quickly. How quickly, and for what reason? Sicne you've lost it, you can do so, so it wouldn't precipitate a crisis for you to gain a little, getting your BMI back up to 22 or 23. Try that and see what happens.

Failing that (are you married and want to become pregnant?) you could try periodic ovulation inducement. While this doesn't address the underlying problem, it would allow you to do what you might want to do. You don't say that you do, but just in case...

In the meantime, I would gently suggest that you really do try to wait this out, patiently. Part of your experience at the moment is anxiety about what might happen in the future. But we can't do anything about teh future, so worrying about it like this will not help. Try to recognize your emotions and live with them, it will help your state now, and your now is just as important as your future.

im not sure exactly but i would go see another doctor it may cost a bit but maybe someone will give u an answer
