Bowen therapy?

Has anyone tried Bowen therapy for the treatment of chronic pain?
I have atypical facial pain and have had it for around 6 yrs now. My usual drugs are now less effective and I am thinking of trying alternative treatments. I have already tried acupuncture but that was unsuccesful, a friend suggested Bowen therapy but I cant find much on the internet about it.
Has anybody tried it and was it successful?

I have had Bowen Therapy, and felt quite good afterwards. It is a very different experience. I was laying there wondering how what they were doing would help, but afterwards I definately felt better. I however do not suffer from chronic pain, so I dont know how it would work for you.

Perhaps you could look into seeing a naturopath/homeopath in conjuction with a Bowen Therapist, they may have some natural alternatives for pain relief.

I have tried it once but it didn't do much for me. It may be just the right thing for you.

Bowen works on ligaments and muscles and works on freeing tension in the muscle or ligaments. If you problem involves ligaments or muscles, it will work.
If it is an alignment issue then you need to see a chiropractor.
If it's injury based, then a physio would help!
Drugs only hide the pain.

Bowen is a very gentle technique for working with muscles. It's unlikely to help with your symptoms. Probably have more luck with a craniosacral therapist or a cranial osteopath.

I've not personally tried it but know 3 members of my family have and all have had a positive response to the technique. Hurts a little the next day by all accounts...but well worth the results.

I hope it works for you if you try it.

I'm not sure that Bowen would work specifically on fascia. Try a massage therapist who is trained in fascial release. If you have a good pain threshold find a Rolfer. Rolfing targets the fascia, and though it works, it usually hurts!
