Rotator cuff...?

i tore my rotator cuff snowboarding, i finished getting acupuncture and physical therapy but there is still considerable amount of discomfort, will my shoulder heal on its own? or is surgery the only option? and how long will it take to naturally heal?

It depends on the size and depth of the tear. Large to massive tears will most likely never heal without surgery. Yet, many times they will become pain-free...but with abnormal shoulder function. Small to medium tears might heal...but it could take a full year for this to occur due to the poor blood supply to tendons.

i just had 4 surgeries on my rotator cuff...i injured it in the 70's in a parachute jump while in the us army ...did not know it....this last winter it had worn down to no muscle connected and none of the 4 tendons...i will never use it the same again...go see a reputable Orthopedic surgeon now...if you ever want to use it again properly...good luck and hang in there

It takes quite awhile for it to heal, and it will never be the same after it heals. Your best bet would be to see a orthopedic surgeon to get it repaired.
