How true are these healing methods?

These are the following healing method we have at present:
1. Iridology- it claims to diagnose disease by examining the iris, the colored portion of the eye.
2. Reflexology- reflexologist rubs, massage & applies deep pressure to the specific points of the body to relieve certain symptoms. But I did tried the foot massage once, and the only relief I got are sore foot, I can hardly walk after the session.
3. Chiropractic- The system of healing developed by an Iowa grocer named Daniel Palmer, who was jailed for illegal practice of medicine in 1906. He believe all diseases were caused by spinal misalignment.
4. Aromatheraphy- based on the absurd notion that massaging various plant oils into skin or inhaling their odors can heal disease.
5. Naturopathy- The belief that patient get rid of the disease with little or no help from drugs but through diet, exercise and proper habits?
6. Acupuncture-Ancient system of healing relies on the stimulation of points in the body
7. Taheebo tea-

I know this doesn't exactly answer your question in a definitive way, but -- chiropractic visits are covered by some health insurance plans.

NO expert here but

IRIDOLOGist did find that i had frequent, recurring pain in my left ankle & foot area by looking at my iris.

and ACUPUNCTURE stopped my incessant itching from extreme eczema for several days when everything else failed.

FORGOT to mention CHIROPRACTIC .... YES! DEFINITELY worked for my twisted spine! (scholiosis & swayback.).... I did not see significant results until my 6-8th session, but it DID finally work & I stayed well for a long time. I was SO thankful not to have to take pain pills or have surgery!

All of them are alternative systems of medicine and they work perfectly well.
All the therapies have their own identities.
All therapies have limitations, even allopathy.

I have found that they were alright when you are doing them=when you stop going ,as they say you don't have to come back, the pain comes back within a couple of weeks anyway and I feel it's a waste of money

I only have experience with Chiropracty, Aromatherapy, and Accupuncture.
Chiropracty is a joke. My wife went to one for a month and then I went in with her and watched the doctor do the exact same thing to about 20 people in about 30 minutes while she was waiting to be seen. He spent about 2 minutes and gave them all a sharp shove on thier lower back and on thier side. Doing this 4 times a month is supposed to correct you spine allignment which is out of whack from sleeping everynight for 8 hours in the wrong position. They dont tell you how to sleep correctly either. For that they charged $300 a month!
They provide nothing but testimonial evidence that it works. There is no scientific or unbiased research that the doctor was able to show me, only testimonials.

Aromatherapy has something to it. Aromas can be very relaxing and that is healing. Any other claims than relaxation are based purely on testamonial evidence, and no real research indicates that it does anything except relax a person.

Acupuncture has some real applications, such as stopping pain or relaxing muscles. There is a lot of ritual and some people make claims about it that cant be supported. Acupuncture is a way of interacting with the nervous system and the chi energy. Its good for sports medicine.

As for chiropractic it works...don't listen to those who say it doesn't . Just go to my doctors waiting room and ask the fire fighters and police officers who were injured and are now back to work.

And my chiropractor also told me about a man that came in and was told by a doctor needed back surgury. My chiroprator treated him and got him well. Then the insurance company complained to her why did he need to come for so many treatments. Well I saved him from having back surgury !!

I suspect that each of these methods have someting to them.
However, I also expect that not all of them treat all conditions just like antibiotics won't cure viral infections or set broken bones.

The National Center for Complementary & Alternative Medicine (an Institute of the National Institutes of Health)
http://nccam.nih.gov/ is an excelent source of information for treatments that have been studies for particular conditions.

Michael John Weaver, M.S.

I have had amazing results with chiropractic and naturopathy. Ailments that the MD's could not understand or treat were treated by my chiropractor and naturopath. Just remember there are good and bad people in any profession (good chiropractors and bad ones etc.) So for those people who had one bad experience should not just discount it.

Best of luck!

I will answer what I am qualified to respond to in regards to reflexology. On the onset may I state that a reflexologist does not "Rub" and there is no "massage" involved in this modality. Once experienced you'll be able to quickly tell the difference between a qualified reflexologist (look for certifications with specific reflexology schools as well as board certification from ARCB) and someone who was simply introduced to the concept as a passing part of their education in another modality such as massage, nail techs, etc. The difference is phenomenal! Evidently your experience was NOT with a qualified reflexologist. The after effects of a session should allow you to feel totally relaxed (I'm talking DEEP relaxation) and refreshed.
