Whats the best treatment for excema?

i have recently been getting patches of excema on my face, i have tried over the counter creams, they dont work, i would like to try herbal/acupuncture. i know its due to work stress, which i am now dealing with, but my condition is still there.Anyone tried chinese medicine for this condition?

I am eating too much wheat/dairy products at the moment, i will try to cut them out

Homoeopathy every time! I've cured many, many cases in the last year using homoeopathy. There's no magic remedy - just the remedy that is correct for the person suffering from eczema. I expect a lot of thumbs down from those ignorant of the real powers of homoeopathy - but they should ask my patients!

Certainly no placebo effect when the patient returns 1 month later great improvements in their condition. What is it with some people - particularly those with an axe to grind, who insist on saying that homoeopathy doesn't work. General medicine HATES anything that successfully treats complaints that they say are incurable! I spent 21 years in general medicine & left because I knew that there were better ways of treating people - and that way is homoeopathy

Sudacrem usualy workd for me, hoever ask you doctor as differant skin type need differant things x

I had excema on my hands, I was told not to eat dairy products and it went, I was using a steroid cream aswell.

E45 or Hydrocortisone

yes and it was very expensive and tasted yuk but it did work if you take it properly got rid of mine .

Have you tried Allergenics? Available from Holland and Barrett. Good for dry, itchy skin conditions like eczema and dermatitis.

i was tortured with excema and nothing worked til i tried a cream called Doublebase, it was the only thing that helped me, hope it works for you.

You could try bio oil, this is also excellent for very dry skin. My husband has a form of eczema/psoriasis on his elbows and knees, the bio oil seems to have made a big difference where creams from the doctors didn't cut it at all. Only use steroid creams short term if you can, they can thin the skin. Diet can also make a difference, try cutting out wheat and/or yeast and chill out when possible, your body is telling you to.

Hope you get better soon

I suggest you got to doctors as some cases are more serious then others. My doctor prescribe my cream but you can get it at chemists over the counter i use 'eumovate cream' i think its great

There are numerous creams and emollients that you can buy, however have you thought about homeopathy? Try and find a reputable homeopath, perhaps one who is also registered as a GP, and they can treat you constitutionally ie. your overall general wellbeing, especially as you say you have been suffering from stress too. Homeopaths have had great success in treating eczema and psoriasis and if they can help with your feeling stressed, all the better. Best of luck!

You seem keen to waste time and money on frank quackery. Firstly there is no treatment, implying cure, only management meaning control. Dietary manipulation is also seldom useful.

In the few weeks I have been answering 'Health Answers' I have had my eyes really opened. I had no idea that such a high percentage of the population are so naive as to believe in the myths, potty patent medicines, illegal drugs, illegally purchased prescription only drugs, charlatans and just plain crooks, purporting or pretending that they can fix them.

Often little is needed in the form of active medication.
Here is my own advice sheet for eczema:

Here is a list of do's and don'ts that I hope you will find helpful.

Things not to do:-

Don't use biological powders
Don't use fabric softeners
Don't use soap or detergents to wash with
Don't use standard shower gels or bath additives

Things to do :-

Try Fairy Snow -the old fashioned powder
Use dryer balls
Use a soap free cleanser to wash hands etc.
Use a moisturising shower gel like Oilatum
Use a moisture bath additive like Aveeno
Use a good moisturiser like Aveeno
Use it very frequently, you can't over-moisturise!
Use antihistamines for itch, a non sedative one like loratidine in the morning and a sedative one such piriton at night.
You may need to use steroids creams/ointments for flare up areas. Use the mildest you can, for the shortest time possible.

Sorry if you knew all of that already :-(
