Do you know the success rates of all Stop Smoking Methods?

In the New Scientist Magazine 1992

There was an Independent Survey , done by the Institute of Actuaries , that revealed the success rates of al the different Stop Smoking methods.....other known results have been added , and marked with an asterik * Doctor's Advice 3% Will Power 6% Self Help Books 9% Nicotine Gum 10% Nicotine Patches 15% Acupuncture 25% Hypnotherapy 30% Hypnotherapy 35% (with medical reasons) Hypnotherapy methods devised by Award Winning Professor of Psychiatristy and Professor of Psychology 82% still not smoking 26 months later , after the last session !

* Nicotine patches were not in the Survey.....I don't think they were about in 1992.....but their success rate is known as being 15%

The NHS promote Nicotine Replacement Therapy......and yet Nicotine Patches are only 15% successful !

All of them depend on willpower. Without willpower, all methods are unsuccessful.

WILLPOWER IS ONLY 6% SUCCESSFUL.WHICH MEANS THAT 94% OF SMOKERS NEED HELP TO QUIT SMOKING......THEN THEY ARE ONLY AS SUCCESSFUL AS THE METHOD ITSELF !

I have been an Ex smoker for 2 years & I did it by 3 ways. the 1st was that smoke away, the 2nd was nicadermCQ Clear(unfourtunatly I would get a red mark by the spot). Also my doctor prescribed a 3 month supply of a drug that was only 10 dollars a month & is also used to treat depression. I believe the name of the drug was Wellbutrol. Keep in mind you will occassionally still have cravings, but after time once you are around smoke, you won't want to do it. Good luck

what works is...if you want to quit...thats the bottom line....

all these methods will work if you want to quit...

the smoker is relying upon the method, instead of the smokers will..

I quit once for about 6 months and started again, this was about 1954. In 1968 I quit again, smokes were about $.25 a pack, Nicoban was $3.50 a box big decision, I took the Nicoban but the instructions said " If you not want to quit this product will not make you stop". I then started counting the days, weeks, months without a smoke and when somebody asked me if I had a cigarette I proudly said 'I Quit" so it has been 39 years now and still counting.
