Really tired.?

I haven't had a decent night's sleep in years.
I'm lucky to get about 3-4 hours on a good night.
Most of my days are spent in a semi-daze.

Every time I exercise, it's worse. I feel hyper after exercising, even ridiculous amounts. Usually I have too much energy after playing 3 hours of tennis straight to get any sleep that night.

I've tried sleeping pills, acupuncture, and a crapload of other things.

Nothing really worked, and the sleeping pills had some serious mood altering side effects on me.

Doctors haven't seemed to be able to do anything but prescribe more pills or ask me if i'm bothered about anything. I don't stay up all night worrying.

What kind of insomnia is this?
Has anyone been in this situation, and are they still sane and alive? :\

I noticed your user name? Are you sensitive about Ole-men looking at you? Maybe you are worried about those things and have bad dreams.

it's all in what ya eat..............

i have trouble sleeping all the time and sleeping pills dont work for me either.
when i exercise i try to do it in the morning (before noon) that way my body will have a better chance at rest at night.
i also try to listen to calming music like nature sounds. i keep a journal by the bed because sometimes my mind is racing too much at night to sleep, i write down my thoughts and then it is easier to sleep. i also keep a glass of water and a light snack by the bed so i dont have to get up at night.
i set myself a bedtime and make sure i am in bed by that time-even if i cannot sleep. i dont get up from bed, i make sure to go to the bathroom right before bed. its kind of like re-training my body's signals to know it is time to sleep.
make sure your bedroom is a relaxing place.

i hope this helps.

if not, try a different dr.

HI. I have had nites when I don't get alot of sleep. Just changing your routine may help. Do you drink caffiene drinks before going to bed. Try a nice warm bath or hot shower. For some it helps. I know with me at times its hard to shut off my brain enough to go to sleep and I find myself waking up alot thru the nite. I usually go on the puter, find a few games to play, or what ever, anything to take my mind off of what could have been bothering me, It makes me tired playin on the puter and I generally have no problems going to sleep and staying asleep. Sometimes just doing something different or changing your nightly routine can help with the insominia

Go to a good doctor. Get some blood work done to check for problems. You might need to go to a sleep clinic. Right now being that tired is the same as driving drunk and you are a danger on the road to yourself and others.

You need to find a Sleep Disorder Specialist. While this site does not provide a Sleep Disorder SPecialist to contact, it lists 26 diseases or medical conditions that are associated to sleep disorder. Some of them don't have a detailed explaination, so you will have to do more research on them. You can look through them, BUT!! don't try to diagnos yourself!!! There are many tests (which are listed on this site) that specialists must put you through to be able to acertain what it is that may be causing your issue.

What is important here: You should seek someone who is a DOCTOR that can prescribe medication (although you have been that route) as opposed to someone who is a 'phsychologist' (a councelor who will just deal in accupuncture and hypnotherapy--not that these are bad, but you have also been this route.). You need to look to someone who will test you, who is actually looking for a physically medical related reason for your problem...not just a 'phschological' reason.

The second site is "THE DREAM DOCTOR" It is an information site, which has a sleep discussion forum where you may be able to find answers to your questions...or find support by others in a similar situation.

The third site is an article posted by the American Academy of Family Physicians entitled, "Chronic Insomnia: A Practical Review."

Insomnia (sleeplessness) is due to stress,
dietary and medical problems. By making
small lifestyle changes like having a fixed
daily routine, relaxing and eating properly,
insomnia can be cured. I found the information at
