Fibromyalgia & acupuncture? |
I have fibromyalgia, am female, 58 and a teacher. I take Cymbalta & Celebrex plus Tylenol and I can function enough to work full time. I normally eat a varied and healthy diet (I almost never eat processed foods - I cook with organic chicken and vegetables - things like that. I would very much like to feel better than just functional. Does anyone know if acupuncture would help? there are several reasons that fibromyalgia flares up. The worst is stress, and acupuncture actually forces the body to relax which helps. I have seen acupuncture work quite well for many causes of chronic pain. The only drawback is that it is not covered by insurance and must be continued indefinitely. I have seen people that had their pain diminished or gone completely!! GL Fibromyalgia is a condition no one knows enough about to treat. and drugs do nothing to cure the problem. It works for some people, I didn't have much luck with it. Massage usually helps me, but not deep tissue, make sure the massage therapist knows you have fibro. Also I have had some luck lately with a supplement called d-ribose (corvalen is the brand name I use) it has helped with fatigue and pain. |
