Has anyone had acupuncture or knows owt about it? |
I had acupuncture 2 years ago to help to quit smoking, it involved needles in the back of the ears which stayed in for 10 days. Yeah Shearer, Great... I know you're new but go easy with the puns, we won't be able to concentrate if you carry on! You had auricular acupuncture done. The whole body can be mapped onto the external part of the ear and the system is quite involved. Most likely the acupuncture points used were those that address detoxification and withdrawal. Auricular acupuncture can be done using small acupuncture needles, intradermal needles held on with a small piece of tape, or seeds (vaccaria or mustard). It is very common to have a client leave the office with these sterile, tiny, intradermal needles inserted, but leaving the needles in for 10 days is a very long time, something I have never done or seen. Because the ear is avascular, it is prone to infection. Oils can build up on the skin and increase the risk of infection. The care of your ears should have been explained to you before you left the practitioner's office. Complications with acupuncture are minimal. However, when there is cause to suspect malpractice, it very often involves an ear infection. I'd get a second opinion, sounds to me like it has got some connection. ha ha, "sounds", get it??!! I've had acupuncture. The needles were NEVER left in. Im a Medical Doctor , Ive never heared that someone has needles satayed in his/her body !!! |
