Is acupuncture a viable treatment for an arthritic knee?

Never done it, never known anyone who has. I am, however, open to trying acupuncture if I thought it might help.

Do you have any experience with acupuncture and arthritis in the knees? Thanks!

I used to work for a chiropractor who also used acupuncture as a pain relieving adjunct to the chiropractic. Many people felt relief with acupunture, but it will not cure it. It only relieves pain (in some people). Other treatments include IFC (intra-ferential current - a type of electric stimulation) or a treatment which combines ultrasound therapy with the IFC. Good luck.

most chinese thinks so... so i guess it is...

i have seen my grand-dad with the same suffering, and he tried acupuncture. it did wonders for him. u just have to keep it up. it looks scary but he always used to look forward to the sessions cos it gave him relief. best of luck with whatever u chose to do.

My understanding is acupuncture seeks to block pain by interfering with nerve path to brain...must be something to it,chinese diagrams thousands of years old accurately describe nervous system, well before optics advanced enough to actually see them

I have worked with patients who have used accupuncture very successfully to greatly lessen or even eliminate the pain of arthritis (either type). It is regularly prescribed by many doctors and is covered under many insurance plans.

Hypnosis is also effective and can also often be prescribed under health insurance.

Yes it is. Here is a study of the benefits

It can really help with the pain and healing.
