Acupuncture for Tennis Elbow?

Ive been suffering for sometime with a severe pain in my right elbow/tendon. Having tried various treatments from my GP, I have been now been advised to attend an Acupuncture Clinic. I had the first one yesterday and wonder what the chances of success may be and how long I should wait before seeing any benefit?

I'm not big on modern medicine invading my system. Yes acupuncture is good for a lot of things. But do your self a service before you go there - read a book called The Trigger Point Therapy Workbook by Davies. It deals with muscles, pain and referred pain. You may learn that you can fix it your self.

doesnt work mate had the three steriod injections then had to have the operation done its fine now but you might be lucky depends what work you do and how much tennis you play !

didn't work for me now having to have cortisone injections when the pain gets too much.

I don't think acupuncture will work. steroid injections will work (in skilled hands!) the trick is to really localise the painful spot beforehand and to inject that area. If local anaesthetic included in the injection you will get instant relief if in the right place but it is temporary until the anaesthetic wears off then after a few days it will settle down . There is also a epicondylitis clasp you can buy from the web which is excellent for this and will help to cure your problem. Of course rare cases do need surgery.
Find the epicondylitis clasp here

Been lucky enough, cortisone injections have worked for me (had twice now!)

This may sound weird, but have you had your neck checked out? Sometimes tennis elbow is referred from the neck.
