A cat scan and now an mri????

My boyfriend who just turned 40 has acromegaly a rare disease and recently he had a light stroke. The doc. found something on the cat scan but thats all he would tell us. and now there going to do a mri scan. should we be alarmed???

If he knew for certain, he wouldn't order the other test and he'd have told you. hang in and be patient till all the news is in.

You should exercise some concern. The fact that the doctor is doing a follow up exam means they aren't sure what they saw and want to image it on another modality. The doctor should have something about what he saw though.

Getting alarmed won't change anything or fix anything,

Wait for the results before you react. Ask some questions, like
"what are the possibilities" and "what would the action be for each possibility" "what are the possible outcomes"

Be persistent for the answers. At least then you can be prepared a little.

Spend a LOT of time with him. Give him gifts and gifts. If he dies you want to remeber good memorys. Give him lots of flowers and games you can play with together. Don't be alarmed be half alarmed cat scans and mris are not something to be amarmed about.

No, i wouldnt be. An MRI is virtually the same as a cat scan, and it is probably so the doctors can find out more. The best thing you can be is supportive and not to freak him out.

An MRI will show more details of the area the doc is looking at.

No, you should be glad that your bf's doctor is 'taking good care' of him ... the fact that the doc found 'something' on the CAT scan, and now wants an MRI means that he's 'not totally sure' of what is there, and wants to 'see it better' before he tells you anything ... but you may be assured that whether it's a 'good thing' or a 'bad thing' that this 'second test' will tell him what 'needs to be done' to help your boyfriend 'get better.'

Wow I am really sorry to hear that its really scary to hear such a thing all I can really say is to just pray and believe in god that everything will be okay I no the feeling. My auntie had cancer and it was really hard for the doctor tell her but she got through it and I am sure your boyfriend will to Every night before you go to bed Just say prayers for him that everything will be okay and remember you have to trust in god or what ever else your believes are!!!!!!!!!!
