Acne - are there any natural cures?

What are the best ways of preventing breakouts of acne and reducing redness or breakouts?

Here are a few things I have heard in the past:
- exposure to the sun helps clear acne ( but too much exposure can be bad)
- vitamin E helps heal acne
- vitamin C helps prevent or heal acne

Any other natural tips for preventing acne breakouts or reducing the breakouts?

I know about all those acne treatment creams and pills...I am currently using proactive.

All I want to know is natural cures/preventions for acne or maybe the type of diet I am suppose to be on? Is there any strict exercise training? amount of sleep to get?

Some tips that helped me:
- I use acne free from walmart. Hate to help out walmart but the stuff works same as proactiv but is like half price
-wash your pillowcases as often as possible
-touch your face as little as possible
-drink lots of water
-I found that chocolate makes me get bad pimples so i avoid. doctors say there is no link but that is bs in my case
-greasy foods make my face feel greasy and that makes me break out more
-in sun, use a oilless sunscreen
-eat lots of veggies so your body has proper nutrients to fight infection (which acne is)

All of these have really helped me! Good luck

Fish oil.
Omega 3 DHA in fish oil helps make better cell walls. Gives you better, smoother skin - also gives better hair and nails.

Cut out as much vegetable oil (probably sunflow oil too) from your diet as you can. Coconut oil is a healthier alternative (higher in fibre and nutrients, also maintains structure at high temperature so it doesn break down into trans fats), avocado oil is also quite good. Olive oil is the cheapest and most freely available substitute for vegetable oil (people have been eating olive oil for a couple of thousand years, vegetable oils and sunflower oils for only about the last century)

Get a cotton ball soaked in hydrogen peroxide and rub your whole entire face with it. Wait for a couple of minutes then put some lotion on your face. Do this every other day.

Try to get some sleep at leas 8 hrs a night .
Don't touch or pick your face.
Drink water .
when you use proactive really rub and scrub your face for at leas 2 minutes to really clean your face.
People say that diet does not affect your acne but I think it does when I eat chocolate or peanuts I break out i suggest you kind of check your self after you eat certain things to see if you get better or worse.

As far as natural products go. You can not go past Australian natural tea tree oil.

Natural Remedies include:
Sleep
Lots of water
Good foods (which include vitamins e, a, all the b's, c)
Chromium (maintains regular sugar levels - Great help!)
And washing your face to prevent oil build up.

If you like natural remedies you should go to a chinese herbal shop. Im sure they will be of some assistance.

I found this website:

It offers some natural solution using products that you can find in your kitchen. Try to browse around there are several articles related with natural acne treatment.

Hello
First, I understand where you're coming from. I grew up with really bad acne, not only on my face but on my body as well. It was embarrassing and I tried everything including cleansers, creams, prescription medications, antibiotics, over the counter medications, and even shots from the dermatologist (ouch!) to get rid of it. I never did until many years later when it didn't matter as much.

Here's what I found out after lots of research and trial and error, the hard way.

It's not a topical issue, it doesn't help much to treat it from the outside, it's an inside job. When you treat it from the outside it's like treating the symptoms, not the cause. You'll hear from many people that's not the case, and it's usually because they want you to buy their creams or lotions, and keep buying them month after month after month (or they haven't experienced the truth). Of course, when you stop using it (as you've experienced) your blemishes come back... because you're not treating the cause. And the costs for all of these routines/drugs add up month after month.

If you think about it logically, it makes sense. Why do we get rashes, breakouts, or other skin irritations? It's usually because of something we ate, something that wasn't meant to be put on our skin, something that caused us stress and our body reacts to all those things.

Bottom line is that most every cause of acne is related to what you eat, how you feel and how you take care of yourself. Your skin is a reflection of what's on the inside. We have lots of toxins building up in our systems and they have to be cleaned out on the inside and that will reflect on the outside. The blemishes, rashes, acne, etc are indications that your body is reacting to what you're eating, to stress, toxins, chemicals, hormones... literally a great number of things.

Basically what I did in a nutshell was clean out my system by taking out the processed and junk foods, and added as much fresh fruits and vegetables to my diet as possible. This part is key. I also started drinking a lot of water daily, starting with 3 or 4 glasses when I wake up (adding a squeeze of fresh lemon at times). I also got more active every day, walking, running, sports, jumping, whatever, just getting active. It not only gave me more energy, it help flush out the toxins that were clogging up my system.

I followed the regimen in these two books I found:

and

This mask should help, mix 1 tablespoon of dried or fresh yeast with 2 tablespoons of lemon juice; apply on face, wait until it gets hard (try not to move), peel or wash with warm water. Check out http://useinfo-acne.blogspot.com/ for more useful info.

Consider the natural acne cure. It is along the lines you are asking about.

In common parlance, acne occurs when the pores of the skin are blocked by natural oil produced by our bodies and dirt. This mostly occurs during the onset of puberty, as the hormones are developing and also occurs regularly in pregnant women.

There are various acne products available in the market. People are taking antibiotics as an acne treatment much more today than in the past. However what happens is that your body becomes resistant to them, thus eliminating antibiotics as the best acne treatment.

One of the latest treatments can be found at http://acne-relief.info/

Try one of those:

Cure Acne With Root water
Root water is a Chinese herbal product obtained from the forests of China. It is very potent in fighting off skin blemishes. Root water is composed of root herbs and alcohol. It is supposed to be applied on the skin with the use of a cotton ball. Root water is known to force the skin to renew facial tissues. As such, it is best used with water-based skin moisturizers because it can dry the skin if used regularly for one to two weeks.

Anti-acne capsules with Chinese Herbs
If you go to a Chinese pharmacy and ask for a treatment for acne, they are more likely to produce a Chinese Herb capsule. These capsules contain only the most natural Chinese herbal medicine like Yi Yi Ren, Fu Ling, Huang Bai, Mu Dan Pi, Chi Shao, Huang Lian, and Gan Cao, among many others. The combination of these Chinese herbs could work wonders on your acne-infested skin.

Acupuncture for Acne
Acupuncture is one of the oldest traditional Chinese procedures used in treating diseases. It involves the use of needles pricked on certain parts of the body to produce the healing effect. For acne, acupuncture is used so that heat will go out of the body. Chinese medicine believes that heat is the primary cause of acne. There are different sources of heat that needs to be released so the needles have to be placed on both local and distal points of the body. Points such as the large intestines and spleen are focused on.

DO鈥檚

1. Develop a healthy skin care routine. This includes eating healthy and exercising. Simple things like staying away from junk food and greasy fries, believe it or not, can work wonders!

2. Wash your face in the AM and PM. Always remove all traces of makeup before bedtime. Sooo crucial!

3. Use sunscreen regularly. The sun may be your BFF, but be sure to use some SPF. Daily use is recommended because the sun can cause skin damage, such as sunburns, and speed up premature aging. Don鈥檛 forget to reapply sunscreen every two to three hours.

4. Drink plenty of water to cleanse and remove impurities from within. Aim for 8 glasses of water a day to keep your skin hydrated.

5. Use products specifically designed to treat acne and your face. If your face is oily, use oil-free products. Oil-based products provide the perfect environment for blemishes to flourish and can also cause blocked pores. Also, why use scented products an add unnecessary artificial ingredients to your face, when you could use unscented. More is not always merrier!

DON鈥橳s

1. Apply alcohol-based products and DO avoid products with more than 2% benzoyl peroxide and salicylic acid. Even though these ingredients are key to fighting acne, too much will dry out your skin and can cause irritation and inflammation.

2. Use harsh scrubs to exfoliate and cleanse. It can actually damage skin and lead to more blemishes. Instead, try a gentle exfoliating scrub to remove dead skin and dirt that can clog your pores. We recommend once a week or more if needed.

3. Smear on oily hair products. If you have oily skin, it鈥檚 time to toss the hair spray and gel, which contain oils that can cause pimples on your forehead and face. But if you can鈥檛 live without your fave hair products, at least cover your face with a towel while spraying or wear a headband.

4. Stress out and skimp on sleep! Plenty of rest is not only great for your skin, but also for your body and mind.

5. Pop or pick your pimples. Fight the urge to pop your zits and your face will love you forever. Popping pimples can leave nasty scars and cause painful swelling. Eek! Remember to follow a hands-off approach! That means, stop touching your face missy!

6. Heavily cake on makeup to hide blemishes. Makeup will only clog your pores with more impurities. Or, opt for mineral makeup. It鈥檚 the latest craze and allows your skin to breathe properly.
