Acne around mouth and chin area?

Hi guys, I am 22 and have had mild/moderate acne for a few years now. I also have fairly dry skin. I wash my face twice a day, morning and night, with cetaphil cleanser and put on aveeno moisturizer. I also have alot of fainter red spots from previous acne that stays for months afterwards. I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions to solve this problem. I am not trying proactive or acne free or accutane. I am looking more so for over the counter products as my acne is not serious. I tried Neutrogena Oil Free Acne Wash and it tore up my face making it EXTREMELY dry, red and flaky. Any input would be very much appreciated.

I drink alot of water, I eat alot of protein and eat pretty healthy, i.e. not alot of greasy, fast food. Usually eat eggs/toast in the morning, turkey afternoon, pasta evening. Along those lines. I try to take a multivitamin as well as Fish Oil tablets.

my son has been using pine tar soap for a lil over a month now. it has really helped clear it up. he had it really bad. huge sores on his face, back and some on his arms and chest. you can get it thru your pharmacy. it costs about $4 a bar and a bar can last 3-4 wks.

try clean and clear moisturizer. it moisturizes and cleans up acne at the same time :) i swear by it in the winter months, and it's not as mild as aveeno.

Have you checked out this website

The guy who runs it only uses otc products and whatever cleanser/moisturizer you choose. It works pretty well for most people. He is very meticulous about his system though, so follow the instructions exactly.

Maybe you eat too messy? Lol, but seriously that could be why it is around the mouth/chin area.

use pumus stone soap in the morn and a moistureizer at night

i have the same problem. let me know when you find the solution.

good luck

i think you should go to the spa and get a facial. the last time i got a facial... well , my face hurt(lol), but after the swelling was gone, i saw that my acne stopped appearing in the place where the lady squeezed them.

p.s. jut to let you know, the swelling goes away in about an hour. it's not severe if that's what you're thinking = )

Same problem, Use anything with sacylic acid in it...

so don't mix the brands of products you use first of all
it's soooo bad for your skin

and second try biore products, like their warming anti-blackhead cream cleanser
it totally works on everything, not just blackheads

a little more expensive, but still you can like get them at wal-mart

Are you on the phone alot? I used to get bad acne on my chin until I figured out it was from resting my phone between my shoulder and my chin about 5 hours a day. If this is the case, use alcohol wipes or something to clean your phone off once a day.

toothpaste, seriously, put it on your blemishes let it sit dry then rinse. I know it sounds awful but it really does work.

use a moisturizing face MASK and dab it on the problem spots overnight, and they should be dramatically better by morning. I use PeterThomasRoth face wash with 10% glycolic acid..and it works REALLY good. good luck :)

I'm not too knowledgeable in the field of dermatology but do you rub your hand against your mouth/chin a lot? b/c if you do, it might be where the acne comes from (Dirt from your hand spread to your mouth area). Just a thought.

Watch what you put INSIDE of your body: caffiene, chocolate, fast food, chinese food, white flour...all greatly contribute to HUGE skin problems. You would be so surprised how much your skin would improve over a few weeks if you just cut these things out and upped your protien (meats, eggs, cheese and so on).

Keeping your face clean isn't really the answer, though you must wash it twice per day--but it's not what is going to clear it up. Keep taking your multi-vitamin and try flax seed oil (pill or liquid). Protein is a magical skin clearing thing to eat and put in your body, and with a combination of that, cutting out the bad foods and drinks, and a little bit of exercise, which would help your skin rejuvinate and produce new collagen...you will see yourself glowing!

Okay, I'm no expert. I think perhaps you are washing your face too often and it's drying you out. Wash it in the morning and moisturize at night. Also, really watch out for touching your chin and mouth area with your hands. I notice I break out more when I'm resting my chin in my hands while studying. And one more thing - are you coating your entire face in acne medicine? Make sure you only dab it on the sore area. That could be drying you out, too. Good luck!

I would try just a good moisturizer. I have dry skin too and have noticed that most of the acne medications dry out my skin to the point where they are not doing any good.

I have the same thing...I've been using Noxema cleanser lately and it's been okay. Do you have a habit of leaning your chin in your hand? That tends to put more oil in that area and trap it in there. Be as careful about making sure to wash your hands as you are about your face. Also, you may be able to get a prescription for it. I use clindamycin phosphate, and it even clears some of them up in a day or two.
Also, make sure to drink lots of water. It really is as healthy for you as they say!

i suggest this wash by nuetrogena. Its in an orange bottle and it really works quite well, and it doesnt over dry the skin and it has acne medication in it to help clear it up. Also i would buy something with benzol peroxide which is the best over the counter medicine, it may take up to three weeks to start working but it really does help. If it gets worse step it up and use a higher dose of it. it comes in 3% 5% and 10%.

Good luck!

I ALSO HAVE IT ON MY AROUND CHIN AREA

My son and nephews have had mild to severe acne problems and I have purchased over the counter products, such those you've mentioned and others nothing revealed the results we had hoped, and I met actually patients who tried Obagi skin care for Acne issues and their results were phenominal. I was very leary about my sons' and nephews results because i've tried to help them in every way possible but finally after one month their skin transformed beautifully. Please trust me when I say you could never assume they've had acne problems from their results. If you decide to give it a try, please add the 35spf sunblock, to prevent redness and irritation to the skin during transformation......You truly will be thrilled with your results....;)

Acne. That is a tough one. Father time usually wins and it is gone. In the meantime though, I know how you feel in your quest to discover a solution for your acne problems. My quest for a solution to this age old problem was similar to yours....you name it, I have tried it.

Recently, A close friend discovered a natural product that she was having excellent results with, so I started using it as well.

I have been using it now for 3 weeks, and the results are flat out remarkable. Since they have a 30 day guarantee, I elected to get the 4 month option to receive 2 months free.

They also have a toll free ordering, which is important to me. They also have plenty of acne info on their site. Their name says it all http://UltraHerbalAcnezine.com Good Luck.

I have dry skin too and have noticed that most of the acne medications dry out my skin to the point where they are not doing any good.
But the thing that stuck out at me the strongest was that unless I could find a natural solution I would have to keep buying and coming back for medications permanently.
So I researched the current info online , and found the following two resources that solved my problems, without the need to keep buying over the counter products for possibly the rest of my life . I hope this helps you .

Try to apply a honey mask to your face once or twice a week honey has antibacterial properties so it is great for disinfecting and healing minor blemishes.

Keep washing your face twice a day with acne soap, use a sulfur based soap for acne but do not scrub or over wash your skin. That will only make your skin produce more sebum that will lead to more acne.

Eat carrots and take a chromium supplement once a day and try to eat foods rich in zinc and drink a lot of water.
