Do raised sebaceous glands, (or acne) ever go away? |
I've had the problem of raised sebaceous glands on areas where they shouldnt be raised....I found out it was result of a side effect of a protein bar i've been eating - contains anoblic steroids. So i've stopped eating them but will the glands disappear? Steroids do worsen acne and inflammation of the glands. But this will go away (I had the same experience, when I was on steroids in the hospital to take care of my multiple sclerosis attack). Basically, steroids are stress hormones, and they obviously cause acne to worsen. But once they are out of your system for a while, this will go away for sure. You can put some treatment on your skin to speed up the healing process. Try Benzoyl Peroxide, or Salicylic Acid gels, or Tea Tree Oil (works wonders). If it's a simple case of acne then it should eventually go away on it's own. If it doesn't you can try some over the counter products like noxema and clearasil, or see a doctor and try some topical creams like Retin-A or sometimes antiobiotics such as minocycline or doxycylcine are prescribed to treat acne. |
