How do you handle hormonal acne?

I seem to get one to two huge zits right before my period. They leave scars and are actually painful. Anyone have any remedies or prevention ideas? I've heard that birth control helps with this, can anyone recommend a brand, I would really appreciate it.

Toothpaist works. My girls have the same problem, they thought I was crazy for telling them to use it but when they did it worked.

Harmonal Acne will take its time to go away as the harmones change, but in the mean time u can do additional care, by keeping ur skin clean. wash and tom\ne ur face daily at least twice. for women even the pills (birth control ) work to make the balance between the harmones, some doctors do prescribe that. ( there are side effects to the pills, so please consider very carefully and consult with the doctor)

one spoon of lemon juice and a spoon full of glycerine mixed together, pat it on ur face with cotton ball, wash off after 10 mins. this will leave ur face clean.

orange peal (chhilka) can be dryed completely and then grind it in mixer and make powder. mix with a spoon of lemon juice and water, pinch of turmeric and place this thick paste on ur face for 5 10 mins wash off.

these kind of face washings can be done twice every week.

Take half a lemon juice in a glass full of water every morning empty stomach. This will keep ur stomach clean of any fatty foods. ( increase to a lemon after 1 week )

I've heard that birth control does help too, but there are some side effects like a little bit of bleeding between periods. I think you should try using Cetaphil if you havent already. It's good at preventing acne and it's gentle.

oh and salicilyc acid is good for acne. most acne medications contain it, so just look around. and anything that contains benzoyl peroxide is proven as the best way to get rid of big red acne.
