How long should you leave acne medicine on your face?

Should I leave it on for a few minutes until it dries and then wash it off or leave it on until its gone?

There are no directions on the (prescription) medicine I got..

Yeah good job idiot anybody could go do that, that would sort of defeat the purpose of Yahoo answers though. I also don't feel like waiting two months to ask him.

leave it on for 5 days...then take it off and put it back on again and leave it on for another 5 days...then take it off and put it back on again and leave it on for another 5 days... then you will never have another zit again in your life....trust me it works.

Leave it on overnight. (Unless it is a clay mask or something.)

I suppose it depends on what it is, but if it is a gel or cream with salicylic acid or benzoyl peroxide in it, I think you just apply to the affected areas and leave it there. You simply reapply after you wash your face or whenever you think it should reapplied throughout the day. I highly suggest calling your pharmacist or doctor that perscribed it if you are unsure. They will give you accurate information.

If you can't see your doctor, give the surgery a call and speak to him/her or call into the chemist and ask there.
